Louisburgh mourns passing of Kevin Ketterick

The death of Kevin Ketterick, Woodfield, Cregganbane, Louisburgh, was received with great sadness by the local community on Wednesday, July 15. Aged 36 years, Kevin was a son of Peter and Mary.

Kevin endured a lengthy battle with illness borne with great courage and hope throughout his childhood and adult life. Kevin had a great love of GAA and soccer from a young age and quite regularly placed a 20p bet on Mayo and Everton with his dad as a child. Kevin had a great love for pool and darts and many a happy memory from his time on the local darts teams.

Kevin attended Creggantane NS, the Holy Family NS Killeen, and Sancta Maria College, Louisburgh, and then went on to college in Castlebar. He was very content with life when ill-health once again took over.

Kevin spent the final years of his life in the family home in the loving care of his parents Peter and Mary. Kevin will be deeply missed by his parents; brothers Michael, Peter and Sean; sisters Marian, Ann and Catriona; brother-in-law Declan; niece Shauna; nephews Aidan and Thomas; many relatives, neighbours and friends.

After his passing Kevin’s remains were brought to the family home on Thursday evening where a traditional wake was held. His removal was on Friday from the Killeen Community Centre to the Church of the Holy Family Killeen where Fr Mattie Long PP officiated. On Saturday morning a large crowed gathered to bring Kevin to his final resting place in Killeen Cemetery where he was laid to rest with his grandparents Patrick and Mary Kitterick. May his gentle soul rest in peace forever. Donations where desired to the Irish Leukaemia Trust c/o Kilcoyne funeral directors, Thomas Street, Castlebar.
