Catch a great late night show with Sharon Shannon and friends

The Royal Castlebar will welcome back a host of Ireland’s best loved performers for a late concert on Bank Holiday Saturday August 1 including Sharon Shannon, Damien Dempsey, Dessie O’Halloran, and Shane McGowan.

The show will commence at the later than usual time of 11.30pm making it the perfect place to start your Bank Holiday Weekend.

Celebrated Irish traditional musician Sharon Shannon returns to the Royal Theatre much to the delight of fans, who will undoubtedly be anticipating her rendition of the massive 2008 hit single ‘Galway Girl’, whose album of the same name has gone four times platinum. Damien Dempsey will draw fans from around Connacht as he does whenever he gets to appear in Castlebar, being one of Ireland’s greatest songwriters who once again at the Meteor Awards in Dublin won an award for Best Irish Trad/Folk bringing his total of Meteor Awards to six.

Guest of honour on the night will be the legendary Shane McGowan who been writing music for nearly 30 years, from the early punk days of The Nipple Erectors to The Pogues. He last appeared at Christmas in the Royal Theatre to a thunderous applause as he made his way to the stage and belted out ‘Fairytale of New York’. The Royal Castlebar Theatre and Event Centre has an impressive programme for the coming weeks with the World Fleadh taking place from July 31 to August 8 and is jam-packed with a number of Irish and internationally renowned artists including Randy Travis and Martina Mc Bride. Tickets priced at €39.50 standing and €44.50 seated, including booking fee.
