Ballina Fringe Festival 2022 is centre stage this October in Ballina

Ballina Fringe Festival returns to centre stage from October 7 to 15, bringing music, visual art, theatre, spoken word and dance to town in a programme that is a real feast for the senses.

Anchored in community engagement, visual art is once again the central theme of the festival. The flagship exhibition will show a selection of works by Ireland’s leading female artists from The Model Collection in Sligo, including Dorothy Cross, Mayo’s Alice Maher and Clea van der Grijn.

The ever popular Pure Ballina street art project returns for its fourth year, this time partnering with Ballina’s FLOW community project, which seeks to create a more inclusive community for people with disabilities in Ballina and Mayo.

The festival includes real musical treats at St Michael’s Church too. Headline festival act will be Lisa Hannigan, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and one of Ireland’s brightest stars; Ireland’s Chamber Orchestra - this most dynamic ensemble bring their autumn tour to Ballina with a showcase of Fennessy, Haydn & Dvorák that will be a romp of pure, unadulterated joy!

Theatre lovers are well catered for. Killala’s Morag Prunty premieres her one-woman show Am I Irish Yet? and in a pandemic flashback, Fiona Hoban’s On the Road to De-Mask-Us takes a humorous look back at the strange days of March 2020. The always popular Living with a Fairy stage show is sure to be a favourite with local fans of Belleek’s Fairy Trail.
