Mayo’s James Kilbane is swapping the stage for the studio this month, as the renowned Christian, Gospel, Country and Irish Folk singer gets ready for a brand new global debut as host of an exciting new show on the multi-award-winning Shalom World Television Network.

The new show aired for the first time on Wednesday August 17. REWIND with James Kilbane will feature the musical, faith and life journeys of a host of special guests, while also delving into some tough personal journeys, and examining the guests’ relationships with life, music and faith.

The REWIND with James Kilbane weekly series will feature the real life journeys of a stellar line-up of musicians from Ireland, the UK and Europe, with plans already in the pipeline for a much more international guest list.

Initially scheduled for a 12-week run, the series has been generating huge interest – even before it goes live – and it is likely the show will be extended for at least another 12 episodes. At present, the network has an average viewership of 12 million per month, with 18-35 as the most popular age category.

REWIND with James Kilbane can be viewed across the Shalom World Television Networks (Shalom World North America, Shalom World Europe, Shalom World Australia, Shalom World Asia-Africa and SW Prayer ) on smart TVs and streaming devices such as Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. It can also be viewed on shalomworld.org

The initial 12-part series features a selection of exceptional artists from across Ireland and the UK, who have committed their time, talent, and efforts to be part of the show. Each episode concentrates on just one artist, and the series includes a host of big names in the secular world, as well as music artists who are practising the Christian faith and living Gospel values. The REWIND weekly series will feature the musical and faith journeys of the guests, as well as delving into some tough personal journeys, featuring artists who have overcome various addictions and adversities in their lives.

The first production of its kind by Shalom World, the inaugural season will feature an impressive line-up of singers, songwriters and musicians from Ireland, the UK and Europe, all of whom have carved a very special niche in the music industry. The guests include Catholics and Christians who are veterans in the music industry, as well as a host of well known names in the secular world, many of whom have their own stories of addiction and adversity to share. Some of James’ interviewees are staunch Catholics and Christians, while others – of various faiths – have strong Christian values, or are using their faith practically in their daily lives.

The concept for REWIND with James Kilbane was first born a number of years ago, but COVID stopped progress in its tracks, and it is only now that James is getting the opportunity to realise his hosting and presenting dreams. Over the last number of years, Kilbane has worked with Shalom on a number of projects, including in the production of special Christmas episodes for the network, as well as Christmas music and Marian music videos.

Special guests in season one will include Mike Denver, Fr Ray Kelly, Christian contemporary composers and singers Sr Marie Dunne and Ian Callanan, Country Gospel composer, singer and producer Colin Elliott, Celtic Christian composer Deirdre Ní Chinnéid who runs a retreat centre on the Aran Islands, Country Gospel singer Warren Smyth, and Northern Irish Country singer Tony Kerr.
