Mayo GAA have installed their six person selection committee who will appoint the new Mayo senior football manger to replace James Horan in the role.

The six county board officials who will oversee the process are the board chairperson Seamus Tuohy (Breaffy ), county board treasurer Valarie Murphy (Charlestown ), county board vice-secretary Ronan Currane (Davitts ), South Mayo board chairperson Mike King (Hollymount-Carramore ), Cairde Maigheo committee member Pat O'Donnell and Sean Silke who will be the outside human resources representative. Silke is also a two-time All Ireland winning Galway hurler.

It is understood that the committee will stat meeting with the four nominees for the position starting next week. The four in for the role are current Knockmore manager Ray Dempsey, former Mayo players and Roscommon manager Kevin McStay, former Castlebar Mitchels manager Declan Shaw and former All Ireland winning u21 manager Mike Solan.

Once the committee interviews the candidates, they will make their recommendation for the appointment of the new manager. Some top officials on the board, including secretary Dermot Butler and vice-chairperson Con Moynihan, didn't put themselves forward to be part of the committee to avoid conflicts of interest as some candidates and their back-room team members are club members of their own clubs.
