Calor customers throughout the county have raised €1,500 for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation through a cylinder return scheme, in partnership with Keans of Claremorris.

For every cylinder that was returned to Keans of Claremorris – the homeware and garden store - Calor donated €5 to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation has been in existence since 1993 and provides palliative care services to people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families in County Mayo and County Roscommon.

Over the course of a month, participating Calor customers who returned a cylinder to Keans store were entered into a draw to win a €250 hotel voucher for one of the participating Calor BioLPG hotels - the lucky winner being announced on Friday during the live draw.

Commenting at the cheque presentation to the charity, Martina Jennings, Chief Executive Officer Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, said: "We are thrilled to have the support of Calor and Keans of Claremorris on this fantastic initiative to raise vital funds for our Hospice. Fundraising enables us to continue the crucial support we provide to people and their families who are in palliative care.

"As an organisation, we are heartened by the strong support of communities in the region and to all the people who participated in the cylinder return scheme - making these fundraising efforts invaluable to us as a charity. We would like to thank Calor for supporting us with this project, it means so much to the local communities in Mayo and Roscommon."
