Kids create art this summer

Following on from the success of its afternoon and early evening arts and crafts classes for children, studio C has added summer camps to its offerings. Throughout July and August studio C will host camps in a number of local towns, including Claremorris, Kiltimagh, Kilkelly, and Lismirrane (Swinford ).

In its summer camps studio C promotes creative expression through the use of materials including charcoal, paints, pastels, and a wide variety of papers. Summer camp projects include drawings, paintings, sculptures, and collages. While in the camps, studio C encourages students to have fun and come to the art-making process on their own terms without criticism or pressure.

Studio C was created by Lisa Fahy, who was trained at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as an educator and facilitator and ran a successful afterschool art program in a public school system. She most recently worked at the National Museum of Ireland — Country Life in the education and outreach department. She holds a graduate certificate in museum studies from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Originally from the Adirondacks region of New York State, she now resides in Knock.

Full details of the studio C summer camps schedule can be found at www.studioCworkshop.com or by calling 086 848 5072. Registration is now open for all camps.
