EirGrid to hold public information days in Swinford

As part of its ongoing engagement with the public, EirGrid will hold two public information days in Swinford to discuss the North Connacht 110kV Project.

The public information days will take place on Tuesday, November 30 from 11am to 4pm, and Wednesday, December 1 from 10am to 1.30pm at Swinford Cultural Centre. All Covid-19 protocols will be followed each day.

The project will enhance the electricity network in the area and connect new renewable generation on to the national grid.

Following technical assessments and extensive local engagement, the route from Moy Substation in Ballina to Tonroe Substation in Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon, was identified earlier this year.

Further assessments are ongoing to establish the best routing for the underground cable at Swinford and these information days are an opportunity for the local community to speak to the EirGrid team who will be available to answer any questions.

Head of Public Engagement with EirGrid, Sinead Dooley, said: "These public information days are an important part of engaging with communities to get their feedback on projects in their locality and to ensure the best decisions are made with their input.

"We will be following all Covid-19 protocols and we thank the community in advance for their patience as our team prioritise the health and safety of the public by adhering to protocols."
