Deere condemns theft of life-ring on Castlebar Greenway

Fine Gael Castlebar councillor Ger Deere has condemned the theft of a life-ring on the Greenway from Castlebar to Turlough House. In a social media post this week, Cllr Deere posted a photograph of the empty stand which held the life-ring and wrote: "The Greenway to Turlough between the first red bridge and where the big green fence starts; why anyone would take this is beyond belief. It is even written on it, 'A stolen buoy is a stolen life'. With more and more people outside since Covid and us trying to live an ‘outdoor summer’, more people will be taking to water, so this kind of behaviour is life threatening. If you see anyone interfering with this safety equipment, please contact An Garda Síochána and notify Water Safety Ireland immediately on Annie May takes Cathaoirleach's chain in Ballina
