Drop in numbers on PUP 

There were 880 less people in Mayo in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment on Tuesday, May 25, as compared with Tuesday, May 18. The most recent figures show there were 8,904 people in receipt of the payment this week, down from 9,784 the previous week and down from the high figure of 16,381 on May 4, 2020.

Sunflower days for Hospice 

Mayo Roscommon Hospice would appreciate your support on National Sunflower days for Hospice during the month of June. This year the event will be virtual and you can order a special Sunflower bundle or donate online at www.hospice.iethroughout the month in support of the event. Ballina Virtual Goal Mile raises €4,858

The organisers of the Ballina Virtual Goal Mile last Christmas would like to thank all who took part, stating: "The amount raised was an incredible €4,858.81. This amount ranked the Ballina Goal Mile third out of 130 Goal Miles held in 2020. Covid-19 did not deter the people of Ballina and further afield supporting this very worthy cause. They received donations from all corners of the world - a testament to the generosity of the people of Ballina helping the poorest of the poor."

Computer and Business Courses in Swinford

Unemployed due to Covid-19? At a crossroads in your life? Want to change your career path? Take the first step and apply to one of the accredited Computer and Business courses due to commence in September 2021.The courses are free and provide unemployed adults with the opportunity of returning to education, updating their skills, and improving their employment prospects. Adults who are over 21 and in receipt of social welfare for at least six months are eligible to apply. Participants aged under 26 may be entitled to the maximum jobseeker’s rate of €203 per week. Mapping Arts and Disability provision in Mayo

Mayo County Council Arts Service, Clare County Council Arts Office and Galway City Council Arts Office seek to engage the services of a suitably qualified and experienced individual or organisation to undertake an arts and disability research project on a contract for services basis. Irish language summer schools

Comhar Dún Caocháin Teoranta is organising summer camps through the medium of Irish with the assistance of funding from Muintearas Teo under the scheme Scéim na gCampaí Samhraidh sa Ghaeltacht. The aim of the camps is to encourage children to speak Irish in an enjoyable environment. The week-long programme of activity includes sports, art, crafts, traditional dancing, singing etc. This year, pending sufficient demand, camps will be held at the following venues (please note the age groups and dates ):- June 28 to July 2 - Naíonra Ghleann na Muaidhe - (3 - 6 years ); July 5 to July 9 - Naíonra Ghleann na Muaidhe - (3 - 6 years ); July 12 to July 16 - Naíonra Ghleann na Muaidhe - (3 - 6 years ); July 5 to July 9 - GaelCholáiste Chomáin, Ros Dumhach - primary school children; July 12 to July 16 - GaelCholáiste Chomáin, Ros Dumhach - primary school children.
