Disruption to Hospital Services at Mayo University Hospital to continue this week

The service disruptions at Mayo University Hospital as a result of the ransomware attack on the HSE IT systems are expected to continue this week.

· Outpatient clinics are cancelled.

· Diagnostics including x-ray, CT scans, MRI appointments and cardiac investigations are cancelled.

· Endoscopy services are cancelled.

· Elective inpatient and day case procedures are cancelled.

Please do not come to the hospital unless you have been contacted directly by the hospital.

The hospital has set up a helpline for urgent calls from patients who have concerns regarding their medical condition following the cancellation of their appointment. The helpline number is 094 904 9310 and it is open from 10am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 4pm.

All maternity services are going ahead.

However, the patient records system is not currently accessible which means that clinical staff are unable to contact patients. Women who are due to have antenatal appointments this week including antenatal first visits, antenatal scans or caesarean sections are asked to telephone 094 9042313 between 10am and 1pm for advice.

Staff in the maternity unit are arranging for women who are between 14 and 36 weeks’ gestation to get their COVID-19 vaccine at the Mayo Vaccination Centre in Breaffy Resort. Pregnant women can telephone 094 9042313 between 10am and 1pm if they would like to discuss getting a vaccine.

Physiotherapy outpatient appointments are going ahead and patients with appointments this week are advised to come to the hospital as scheduled.

Patients should attend their dialysis appointments unless contacted and advised otherwise.

Patients should attend their chemotherapy appointments unless contacted and advised otherwise.

The Emergency Department is still open for all emergencies. Patients needing urgent care will be prioritised.

Where possible patients should bring their existing patient number or board number with them when they come to the hospital or any letter that they have received from the hospital as this will contain information which will make it easier to find existing medical records.

Ongoing updates on service disruptions will be provided on hse.ie and on saolta.ie
