Aldi unveils plans to open new Ballina store in 2022 - 30 permanent jobs to be created

Aldi Ireland is to create 30 new permanent jobs in Ballina, following the local authority granting planning permission to build a new store in the town.

Expected to open in 2022, the new store will also create 50 jobs during the construction phase. The development of the new Aldi store will see a substantial investment into the local area and will be constructed in Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design and feature 80 car parking spaces, EV-charging stations and a bicycle stand unit.

Colin Breslin, Regional Managing Director, Aldi Ireland said: "We are very excited to be coming to Ballina. This is fantastic news for shoppers and employment in the town. Every new Aldi store that opens brings greater choice, quality and value to shoppers.

"Aldi has a strong commitment to Mayo, opening a new store in Belmullet last summer which was welcomed in the local area, meaning we now operate four stores in the county. Our new Ballina store will bring great value to the doorsteps of locals who previously had to travel to shop at Aldi."

Aldi’s four Mayo stores participate in its national partnership with FoodCloud, donating surplus food to local charities daily. The Mayo stores have donated over 17,000 meals to charity to date.

Each store is also part of Aldi’s Community Grants network, with Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation and the Western Care Association among those availing of the bursary grant in recent times.
