Mayo businesses can avail of new Covid Business Aid Scheme - Calleary

A new Covid-19 Business Aid Scheme announced by the Government has been welcomed by Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo, Dara Calleary.

"The Covid Business Aid Scheme is aimed at those businesses not eligible for CRSS but that are closed or have seen a 75% reduction in turnover as a result of the pandemic," said Deputy Calleary.

He continued: "Eligible businesses will receive up to €8,000 in two instalments and the scheme will be administered here in Mayo by Mayo County Council. An online application process will be set up and available on the Local Authority website.

"This grant will be of substantial assistance to smaller businesses, with some of their fixed costs, like rent, utilities and security. For example, wholesalers, suppliers, caterers, office-based businesses and events companies, down 75 per cent or more in turnover, will qualify. The Department is finalising the details and it will be open for applications shortly.

"I am advising Mayo based businesses to make themselves aware of the new scheme – I will publicise the full application details as soon as they are available," said Deputy Calleary.
