The paths to the respective finals is now known for all the sides left in the Mayo GAA Senior, Junior and Intermediate Championships.

The draw for the rest of the competitions took place in Ballina on Sunday evening and it threw up a number of fascinating encounters in the last eight of the respective competitions which will take place next weekend.

In the senior championship defending champions Ballintubber have been paired against Knockmore is what is sure to be a tactical encounter between Kevin Johnson’s and Ray Dempsey’s sides.

Last years beaten finalists Ballaghderreeen who topped their group were given the prize of a clash against Breaffy in the last eight, while Wesport will take on last years intermediate champions The Neale who scrapped into the last eight buy the skin of their teeth on Sunday afternoon. The final quarter-final game will see Ballina Stephenites take on Aghamore.

The semi-final draw has paired the winners of Ballaghderren and Breaffy against the victors from the clash of Westport and The Neale, while the other semi-final will see the winners of Ballina Stephenites and Aghamore take on whoever comes out of the clash between Ballintubber and Knockmore.

In the relegation semi-finals Bohola Moy Davitts will take on Garrymore, with Claremorris facing Charlestown.

Plenty of interest in the intermediate last eight

The Mayo GAA Intermediate Football Championship Quarter Finals draw has thrown up a number of very interesting contests. Hollymount-Carrmore who were relegated from senior last year have been paired up with Bonniconlon.

Kiltimagh who have almost escaped the grade a number of times in recent years will face off against Crossmolina Deel Rovers while Ballinrobe will take on Ardnaree for a place in the last eight.

But the tie of the round looks to be the meeting of the very near neighbours Mayo Gaels and Balla - just 6km separates the two sides home grounds and there will be no love lost come next weekend.
