Library service offering a range of services from behind closed doors

Mayo County Library are offering a range of services to members from behind their closed doors at the minute.

Darina Molloy from Mayo County Library in Castlebar explained the services on offer saying: "Hello to everyone from behind the closed doors of the library – a very strange place to be this week. We are using the time to do the projects we’ve always wanted to tackle – which will add to your enjoyment of the library and its facilities when we are open again.

"For now, we just wanted to let you know about our great online services – all of which can be accessed from home, day or night. If your library card has expired, or you can’t remember your PIN – phone the library at (094 ) 9047940 or email [email protected] and we’ll sort you out.

"If you don’t have a library card, you can sign up for one using this link https://lgma.iii.com/selfreg, or we can register you over the phone. In the meantime, here’s a quick guide to our online services – we’ve got ebooks, audiobooks, online magazines and newspapers, and even language learning courses.

Ebooks and Audiobooks - BorrowBox

Download ebooks and audiobooks directly to your smartphone or tablet (ebooks do not work on the regular Kindle reader, but will work on Kindle Fire ), or transfer audiobooks from your PC to an MP3 player and listen away.

You’ll need your library card number and PIN (the same PIN you use to renew books online ) to sign up for BorrowBox. You can do it through the library website at www.mayolibrary.ie (click on Your Library online, and then “E-books and E-audiobooks” ) or by downloading the BorrowBox app from the App Store, Google Play or Amazon Fire.

If you’ve downloaded the App, select Mayo County Council Library Services and log in with your card number (where it asks for ID/Barcode ) and PIN. Agree to the terms and conditions, and that’s it, you’re signed in and ready to browse and read! The books will automatically disappear when the loan period finishes. When this time has expired a new period can be started simply by logging out and back in using the same method. For any support queries, please email [email protected].

Magazines - RBDigital

They can be downloaded to your computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet. Again, you can download the app directly, or do it through our website online (www.mayolibrary.ie, click on Your Library ONLINE, and then click ‘Online Magazines’ ).
