Get active with Mayo's Operation Transformation Walks this Saturday

Looking to start 2020 in a positive way? RTEs Operation Transformation is once again joining forces locally with Mayo Sports Partnership to encourage people to become more physically active in 2020.

A number of walks, 16 in total, will take place across the county on Saturday, January 18, with the main county walk taking place in Castlebar, meeting at Castlebar Tennis Club from 10.30am with a start timetabled for 11am.

The walks, either 3km or 5km in length, will be led by local leaders who will be on hand guide participants through the walk and also to give advice about follow on-programmes etc. Please note that all walks commence at 11am, except Kiltimagh at 9.30am, with meeting time at 10.30am for all walks starting at 11am.

County co-ordinators Mayo Sports Partnership and local organisers are encouraging people of all age groups to turn out on the day. In all the events there is no cost involved, participants are asked to wear loose clothing and to bring some water. However no dogs are allowed. Walks will take place in Achill (meeting point Dooega ), Aughamore (meeting point Community Grounds ), Ballina (meeting point Hollister ), Ballyhaunis (meeting point Friary Ball Court ), Ballinrobe (meeting point The Green ), Ballyheane (meeting point GAA Clubhouse ), Claremorris (meeting point Clare Lake ), Castlebar (meeting point Castlebar Tennis Club ), Gortjordan (meeting point Gortjordan Church ), Kilkelly (meeting point Community Centre ), Kiltimagh (meeting point Market Square ), Kilmovee (meeting point Community Centre ), Knock (meeting point Pope Francis square ), Newport (meeting point Medlicott Street ), The Neale (meeting point The Neale National School ), Westport (meeting point Mill Street/High Street Car Park ).
