Jam-packed Christmas programme at Westport Town Hall Theatre

A jam-packed Christmas programme for all the family kicks off this weekend at Westport Town Hall with the award-winning children’s theatre company, Lyngo Theatre, presenting “Heart of Winter”, a seasonal theatrical show for children and families on Sunday, December 8, w ith show times at 2pm and 4pm.

Local community events will be very much to the fore at the Town Hall with Christmas concerts also being performed by Westport Children’s Choir on Wednesday, December 11; The Octagon Ensemble, Westport’s own String Orchestra under the direction of Patrick Early - will have a concert on Tuesday, December 17th. The Ensemble has been steadily developing its music with the support of Westport Town Hall Theatre since 2016.

After six sell-out concerts in December 2016, 2017 and 2018 Festive Harmony is back in the Town Hall Theatre Westport on Friday and Saturday December 13 and 14. Internationally renowned Mezzo Soprano Anne Marie Gibbons will be joined on the night by Baritone Ronan Egan, Tenor Hugh Francis, Pianist Richard Lewis, The Cresham Academy of Dancing, Knockrooskey NS Choir and the Quay School Choir, with special guests, to present a varied programme including popular classical and musical theatre favourites, dance, carols and Christmas cheer.

On Sunday, December 15, the Hall will once again be filled with Christmas cheer when the annual “Spraoi Na Nollag” takes place from 1pm to 5pm. This is a free event for families in association with Westport Chamber of Commerce and Mayo County Council and will see children and families meet Santa and Mrs Claus and enjoy some festive children’s entertainment and storytelling. Elsie Higgins has once again been busy transforming the Westport Theatre into a winter wonderland with her gifted eye for artistic design and lovable detail – as only Elsie can!

Neil Delamere will make his fifth appearance at the theatre on Monday, December 30 with his latest stand-up comedy show “End of Watch”. The theatre will then finish off the holiday season with their third community Pantomime “Bo Peep” - which will run from January 1-5.
