The annual garden fête at St Colman’s Care Centre, Keel, Achill takes place on Sunday next, July 28, getting underway at 1pm.
This year's programme also includes a Bingo in the Marquee on Monday night, July 29. The proceeds from these events provide essential funding towards daily operational costs at St Colman’s.
The garden fête has enjoyed huge popularity for over three decades, with local and visitors alike flocking to Keel for the day. There has always been a great awareness locally of the fete’s importance as the main annual fundraiser for St Colman’s. The organisers are confident that they can achieve their target again for this year, and a large turnout at the Fête and the Bingo will be the most important element in this.
This year's fête has all the usual attractions with wheel of fortune, bric-a-brac, books, arts and crafts, etc. There are lots of activities planned for children also, with games, bouncy castle, face painting, candy floss and novelties. There will be live music and entertainment throughout the afternoon with many local artists and guests joining in the festivities.
St Colman's provides a comprehensive range of health care and social support activities for older and disabled people throughout the Achill parish. The ongoing viability of the service has depended on voluntary effort and in particular, fundraising for operational and development costs over the years.
St Colman’s extends a Cead Míle Failte to their friends all over the county to visit Achill Island on Sunday next, and enjoy a great day out in Keel at the garden fête. There will be a Super Bingo in the marquee at St Colman's on Monday night, July 29 at 8.30 pm. There is a guaranteed jackpot on the night of €500 (sponsored by Solar 21 ) and over €1,100 in prizes. All are welcome.
