Retired Mayo man wins €100,000 after spinning the Winning Streak wheel

A retired Mayo man has become the highest prize winner of the season on the National Lottery Winning Streak TV game show, scooping a massive €143,000.

A delighted Michael Kilbane, from Achill Island but living in Castlebar, won €100,000 of his masssive prize spinning the iconic grand prize wheel. He won €40,000 in cash and a holiday worth €3,000 from other games on the RTÉ One show.

Earlier last week, Michael and his wife of 56 years, Margaret, spoke of how overwhelmed they were by the many good luck wishes from friends and neighbours in Castlebar and Achill Beg.

The couple have two sons, Stephen and Peter. Stephen lives in Portugal and watched Winning Streak online last night, while Peter was in the Winning Streak studio with his children, Rebecca and Emily. Michael also has two brothers: Joe, who lives in Achill and Johnny, who lives in London.

Michael moved to Castlebar when he retired in 2004. Retirement has been treating him well and he is enjoying spending time with his wife and gardening. Michael is going to wait until the dust has settled to decide what to do with his winnings for €143,000.
