Over €27 million allocation for improvements and maintenance of regional and local Mayo roads for 2019

Michael Ring T.D., Minister for Rural and Community Development, has confirmed that the Government has allocated €27,256,822 for the improvement and maintenance of regional and local roads in Mayo in 2019.

Minister Ring said: "This is a significant and much needed grant allocation which will allow for maintenance and improvements on regional and local roads in Mayo in 2019.

"Well-maintained roads will lead to less costs for vehicle repair, a reduction in journey times and crucially, safer roads for us all to travel on. This is further proof of the Government’s commitment to improving connectivity in rural areas. This funding allocation is an increase of just over €3.5 million on 2018's funding allocation."

The allocations are as follows: (1 ) Restoration Improvement: €14,078,000; (2 ) Restoration Maintenance €2,581,000; (3 ) Supplementary Restoration Maintenance €1,019,000; (4 ) Discretionary Budget €5,435,500; (5 ) Bridge Rehabilitation €595,000; (6 ) Specific Improvement Grants €337,000; (7 ) Safety Improvement Works €610,000; (8 ) Speed Limits €30,800; (9 ) Training Grants €95,000; (10 ) Community Involvement Scheme €1,135,022 and (11 ) Drainage Works €1,345,500.
