A show of a different nature comes to the Royal Theatre Castlebar on Wednesday April 8. Castlebar man Oliver Kelleher, celebrity from RTE’s HEAT cooking programme, and Paul Claffey from Mid West Radio will entertain us in a charity cook off with mentor head chefs from Days Harlequin Hotel and the TF Royal Hotel to assist. Host and compere on the night will be funny man Conal Gallen and he will get things heating up in the room.
The proceeds from the night will go to two charities, The Niall Mellon Trust and Croí.
Both charities are delighted to be involved: “Croí are delighted to be one of the chosen charities for this fantastic event. Such an occasion will greatly assist in increasing the awareness of Croí and the work that we do in the community. We are indebted to the Royal Theatre and Event Centre for enabling Croí to be part of this fun-filled night. The funds raised will support our Heart Smart screening programme in Mayo which is being delivered by Nurse Ailish Houlihan, in collaboration with Mayo PCCC”.
Oliver Kelleher nominated the Niall Mellon Trust as he is involved in working with them on an annual basis. “The success of the Niall Mellon Trust has been possible because of the generosity and support we receive from our volunteers and the general public… the enormous generosity of volunteers, partners, and donors allows us to build homes in South Africa all year round, In our first year we completed 150 homes, over the next six years we have completed 11,000 homes in total. Funds are required for re-education of the South African people in order for them to learn new trades to help themselves.”
All the equipment has been sponsored by FloGas for the event and Oliver Kelleher, Paul Claffey, and Conal Gallen have all donated their time for this worthwhile event. Nobody goes without a job and the audience will also be involved in the event as they will pick the winner on the night! A live cook off in the Royal Castlebar promises to be a great night out and one for the diary. Tickets are available on www.ticketmaster.ie as well as from The Royal Box Office on 0818 300 000.
