Drugs with a street value of up to €35,000 were found in the home of a local man, the Galway District Court heard last week.
Philip Holohan (27 ) with an address at 2 Estoria House, Lower Salthill, appeared before Judge Mary Fahy last Monday. He was charged with alleged possession of cannabis herb at the above address on September 2, 2008. He was also charged with the alleged offence of possession of cannabis herb for the purpose of sale or supply.
The court heard that the amount of the drugs reached a street value of €35,000. Inspector Ernie White added that the DPP directions had not yet been received.
Judge Mary Fahy stressed the need for directions as soon as possible. She also suggested that with drugs at such a high value it was possible that the case would have to be heard at a higher court than the District Court
Holohan’s solicitor said that the defendant was abiding by the bail conditions set.
Judge Fahy adjourned the case to January 19, 2009, for the DPP directions and extended time in the event of service of a book of evidence.
