Top potter celebrates 26 years in Galway

Judy Greene, the world renowned potter, this year celebrates 26 years of business in Galway city.

To celebrate being in Galway for over quarter of a decade Greene is currently producing a new range of pottery featuring the use of the Irish language in association with Gaillimh le Gaeilge.

At the launch of the new range last week Judy said, "This year, to celebrate my 26 years in business, I decided to produce a new range of pottery and also make more use of the Irish language. I was aware of Gaillimh le Gaeilge's work in the city, so I made contact with them to get a few ideas on how best to incorporate the language into my business.

“I am very pleased with the results, and the ideas that we've come up with work very well. The language definitely further promotes and authenticates the 'Judy Greene Pottery' brand as being 100 per cent Irish and my customers absolutely love it.”

Judy also presented Minister Éamon Ó Cuív, with a specially commissioned lamp, called, ‘Lampa na Gaillimhe'. The lamp depicts various elements and famous locations in and around Galway city.

Judy Greene Pottery was established in 1982 in the heart of medieval Galway specialising in hand thrown terracotta, depicting Irish flora and landscape.
