Examining choices in The Streets Are Ours

Fregoli to stage full-length version of Robert Higgins play for 2018 Galway Theatre Festival

"IN THE city you choose your friends, here you take the hand you're dealt." Four friends are trapped, all in different ways, and each finds that the freedom to choose is not always a welcome privilege, that it can be a burden in itself.

This is The Streets Are Ours, written by Robert Higgins, which will be staged by Fregoli Theatre Company, in The Mick Lally Theatre, Friday May 4 to Monday 7 at 9pm, as part of the 2018 Galway Theatre Festival. The show stars Jarlath Tivnan, Jerry Fitzgerald, Maria Dillon, and Oisin Robbins, and is directed by Maria Tivnan.

The Streets Are Ours, originally a 10 minute piece, but which has been developed into a full length play, explores the idea of choice. The quartet of friends choose between looking for a party, going dancing, or texting an ex. Eventually tensions develop as the deeper issues of those who choose to leave versus those who choose to stay, come to the surface.
