Ian Coppinger at the Comedy KARLnival

Expect Fred Cooke to do his Karl Spain impression

IAN COPPINGER is best known as a member of Stephen Frost's Improv All-Stars, but Galway will get a rare chance to see the man perform a solo stand-up show, at the next Comedy KARLnival.

Coppinger has been a leading figure in Irish comedy for many years, performing stand-up and improv across the globe. He has appeared on RTÉ's The Panel and is a long standing member of Dublin Comedy Improv.

Also on the bill are Colum McDonnell, who has appeared in Bridget and Eamon, Irish Pictorial Weekly, and The World Stands Up. His comedy is often a self-deprecating outlook on family, life, love, and the pain of being the last-living hobbit in Ireland; and Joe Dowlin, a finalist in the Ireland's Got Comedy at The Laughter Lounge. He is the resident host at the Comedy Shed, and a regular host at the International Comedy Club.

The Comedy KARLnival is at the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday April 17 at 9pm. The host is Fred Cooke, doing his impression of Karl Spain (who is unavailable ). Admission is €5 via OMG Shop Street, the Róisín Dubh, and www.roisindubh.net, or €7 at door. Includes free admission to Silent Disco afterwards.
