Clarinbridge based interior design and fit-out company, Cotton Box Design Group, is delighted to welcome acclaimed designer Angie O’Brien to head up its design department. She will be taking up the position as senior designer responsible for the creative design and management of both commercial and residential projects. Angie is also well-known to some for her high profile work as a presenter with RTÉ’s About the House.
An award winning designer, Ms O’Brien has been the recipient of awards including the Sleeper Award for European Spa of 2006 gained for her work on the spa at The g Hotel, Galway, in addition to Citroen, the renowned Paris Design Competition for the New Dublin Forms of City Transport.
Ms O’Brien’s career was kick started when she won a scholarship to Esmode Ecole de la Mode, Paris in 1992. There she gained an appreciation for the style of international designers such as John Galliano and Jill Sanders who influence her work today.
While presenting About the House, Angie worked on commercial and residential projects for T P Kennedy & Partners Architects. Within her position there she was involved in concept architectural design and development, planning permission applications and interior finishes.
Ms O’Brien joined Douglas Wallace Architects & Designers in 2004 as senior designer and became the consulting expert for clients on luxury spas. During her career with Douglas Wallace, she was involved in all design aspects from concept design and development, client liaison, sourcing and project management through to launch. Angie worked on specialist projects including The ’ Spa for The g Hotel, Galway, The d Hotel, Drogheda and E’spa at Riga, Latvia for Reval Hotels.
