Walking On Cars to play GIAF Big Top next summer

In 2014 they supported The Coronas at the Big Top. In 2018 they headline!

THE GALWAY International Arts Festival has announced the first of its Big Top concerts for summer, with Walking On Cars headlining at the Fisheries Field on Saturday July 21 2018.

The five-piece, from Dingle, County Kerry, are a genuine success story. They began playing live in 2012, determined to build a fan base and save enough money to record an album. Early singles, 'Catch Me If You Can' and 'Two Stones' were both hits in Ireland, the former topping the iTunes charts here. The EPs As We Fly South and Hand in Hand followed them to the No1 spot in 2013.

The band - Patrick Sheehy, Sorcha Durham, Dan Devane, Paul Flannery and Evan Hadnett - signed to Virgin EMI in 2014 and the following year saw further success with the 'Speeding Cars' single. Work began on their debut album with the MyRiot production team of Tim Bran and Roy Kerr (London Grammar, Bloc Party ). The debut, Everything This Way was released in January 2016, and went straight to No 1 in Ireland, while making the Top 5 in seven other countries.

Globally, Walking on Cars have notched up nearly 100 million streams of their music, not to mention more than 36 million YouTube views. The band are working on the follow-up to the multi-platinum debut and their Galway concert will feature some of these new tracks.

This is a 'Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh presents...' concert. Tickets go on sale this Friday [December 8] priced at €39.50 from www.giaf.ie and www.roisindubh.net
