Great success at O’Donnellan & Joyce winter auction

O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers had a wonderful day in the auction room for its Wild Atlantic Way winter auction on Friday, November 10, with more than 40 properties going under the hammer. Properties sold all along the Wild Atlantic Way including Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway, Mayo, Clare, and Limerick. There was a superb mix of residential and commercial properties, and also land, up for grabs on the day. Every property performed exceptionally on the day, reaching its reserve or over.

Colm O’Donnellan commented: “Bidding was fast paced in the O’Donnellan & Joyce’s auction room at the Harbour Hotel. There was tremendous interest all round. One of the highlights of the afternoon was No 5 Bothar Stiofain, Rahoon, a stunning four bed semidetached sold for €335,000. Another highlight for this auction was No 4 New Dock Street, Galway; this property has not changed hands in over 150 years. A property with huge potential and sold for €265,000."

Headline sales on the day included the following.

Cois Cheibh, Barna, Galway

This four bed detached house (all bedrooms en suite ) with stunning sea views was a late entry to the auction, but the star of the show in the end. Contains a basement area offering the option of three further bedrooms, measures in total circa 3,000sq ft with off street parking. The bidding opened at €100,000 with an offer from the floor, and after 40 bids from the room the hammer fell at €436,000.

No 38 Rahoon Road, Shantalla, Galway

Charming four bed semidetached dormer bungalow. The interior of this home is finished to the highest standards, fitted with quality fittings and fixtures throughout, and there is a large conservatory to the rear. The bidding opened at €230,000, and after 18 bids it sold for €375,000.

No 7 Fort Lorenzo House, Fort Lorenzo, Galway

This duplex two bed apartment over ground floor and first floor came with a spacious open plan kitchen and living area, residential parking available, and own entrance. Fort Lorenzo is located just off Taylor's Hill and Kingston and Fort Lorenzo House stands on an elevated site to the rear of the development. The bidding opened at €180,000, and after five bids the property sold for €200,000.

No 9 Bru na Mara, Fort Lorenzo, Galway

Brú na Mara, Fort Lorenzo, is a lovely quiet mature development located off Taylor's Hill and Kingston and just off the roundabout on Bishop O'Donnell Road, a superb location that is only a few minutes’ walk from Salthill Promenade. The bidding opened at €200,000, and after nine bids the hammer fell at €235,000.

No 103 Monivea Park, Ballybane, Galway

End of terrace three bed house with self-contained one bed flat to rear. Within close proximity of Ballybrit and Briarhill Business Parks. Extremely well located as it is within easy access of all main facilities. Large side garden which could be used for further parking. The bidding opened at €160,000, going up in increments of €5,000, and the property was sold at €225,000.

No 11 Errill, Shannon Court, Carrick-On-Shannon, Co Leitrim

Duplex apartment offering approximately 76sq m of living space in good condition in the well managed development of Shannon Court. The property includes a separate kitchen and living room, the latter with access to a small private balcony, two large bedrooms, one en suite, and main bathroom.

The bidding opened at €70,000, with a number of bidders in the room and on the phone, and the property sold at €86,000.

No 27 The Steeples, William Street Upper, Limerick

Two bed apartment sold with vacant possession within walking distance of all amenities of Limerick city. Management fees annual charge is €1,700 from January to December. The open bid started at €50,000, with two phone bidders going head to head the bids were coming quickly. The property sold after 17 bids for €87,000.

Lands at Corbally, Loughrea, Galway

Circa 1.1 acres of agricultural land. Contains no planning. Folio GY89973F. With a number of interested parties in the room the property sold above the reserve price for €16,000.

Loughnagin, Letterkenny, Donegal

Detached two bedroomed bungalow for sale in a peaceful rural location just off the main Letterkenny to Ramelton road and only 10 minutes' drive from Letterkenny town centre and all local amenities, and a mere 10 minutes' drive from the picturesque market village of Ramelton. The property is located next to the Droim Ard Avenue development just off the main R245. The bidding opened at €50,000, and after 14 bids the hammer dropped at €76,000.

Bridge Street, Boyle, Co Roscommon

Comprising a retail shop area, along with a number of store rooms and kitchen and preparation area, with warehouse and yards to the rear. Requires upgrading throughout, suitable for a number of uses. The bidding started at €30,000, the property made the reserve and sold for €40,000.

Site A and site B, Ballinvoher, Caherlistrane, Galway

Site A, circa 0.535 acre site located within easy access of Caherlistrane village. Previously had planning permission for a bungalow. Site B, circa 0.5 acre site located within easy access of the towns of Headford and Shrule. Previously had planning permission for a dormer residence. The properties sold for €12,000 and €11,000 respectively.

No 34 Cuan na Coille, Taylor's Hill, Galway

Impressive two bedroom apartment located in the much sought after and popular development of Fort Lorenzo. The development of Cuan Na Coille is located at the top of Taylor's Hill at the crossroads with Threadneedle Road, access to the development is via Bishop O'Donnell Road. The bidding opened at €160,000, and after 26 bids the hammer dropped at €196,000.

The Mall, Ramelton, Donegal

Three bed terraced house in the scenic village of Ramelton, only 16 minutes from Letterkenny. Being sold with tenant in place. Rental income €346 per month. Ideal investment opportunity. The bidding opened at €38,000, and after 10 bids in the room the property sold at €53,000.

Apts 10, 15, and 17 St Angela’s Campus, Lough Gill, Sligo

Three student apartments sold separately in St Angela’s college campus in Sligo. The bidding started at €40,000 for the first three bed apartment, which sold for €65,000. The second three bed apartment, No 15, saw bidding start at €45,000 and it sold for €69,000. The bidding for No 17 started at €50,000 and it sold for €77,000.
