The Gort Education and Training centre is now enroling for part-time BTEI (Back to Education Initiative ) courses this September, offering a wide range of QQI accredited courses in creative media production, radio production, and film-making from its media department as well as community care, childcare, upholstery, art and painting, horticulture, and computers.
The community radio production course is run in conjunction with the newly established Kinvara Community Radio 92.4fm offering excellent opportunities and experience in live broadcasting.
The community care award is one of the centre’s most popular courses. It trains people to work in a variety of different care settings in the community. Many of the past learners from this course have successfully obtained employment in the sector.
The horticulture course equips learners with the many skills necessary for working in garden centres, nurseries, florists, etc. This course is also popular with those who have an interest in growing their own vegetables, trees, and shrubs.
Gort Education and Training Centre is also offering part-time QQI courses in national and regional tour guiding which is being held in the VTOS centre on the Tuam Road in Galway city.
These courses offer Level 6 national and regional qualifications in tour guiding with ample employment opportunities in this growing industry.
All of the courses are designed to upskill and prepare students for the workplace or as a stepping-stone to further education and higher qualifications.
Many graduates are now enjoying successful careers in their chosen sectors.
Ideally located in Gort town, the centre’s facilities include an industry standard radio production studio and IT facilities, access to high-end camera equipment and editing suites, modern classrooms, canteen facilities, and parking, as well as a half-acre of gardens and poly-tunnel for horticulture.
