Snore no more — with tips in new book from Moycullen author McKeown

Do you snore or have you been diagnosed with sleep apnea, the disorder characterised by pauses in breathing or periods of shallow breathing during sleep? Or maybe you suffer from insomnia or constantly wake up feeling fatigued?

If so, you may be interested in the new edition of the book Sleep with Buteyko written by Moycullen based author and the director of education and training at the Buteyko Clinic International, Patrick McKeown.

He is well known for writing several books on the Buteyko method [a series of breathing exercises and guidelines specifically designed to reduce over-breathing] which aim to help children and adults suffering from breathing problems, such as asthma. Mr Mc Keown had the condition as a child.

His latest publication examines the link between breathing volume and the development of sleep disorders, how nasal breathing plays a significant role in quality of sleep, and how mouth breathing dries saliva and increases the stickiness of the airways. It also highlights the importance of nose breathing during childhood as a means of minimising the risk of developing sleep apnea.

Mr McKeown describes his book as “the complete self help guide” to significantly reduce snoring, obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia and wake up feeling rested and refreshed.

It is accompanied by a 20 minute audio CD which features guided Buteyko breathing exercises which people can learn at home.
