Therapy? - Live and...mellowed out?

Northern Irish punk/metallers to go stripped down and acoustic on new tour

THERAPY? THE Antrim trio who blazed a trail across the Irish and British music scenes with their loud, lively, and frantic punk/metal, often with a tasty dollop of melody, tour Ireland this year - but fans are going to see and hear the band in a very different context.

The Wood & Wire tour will see Andy Cairns (guitar/vocals ), Michael McKeegan (bass ), and Neil Cooper (drums ) perform acoustic/unplugged re-workings of songs from their extensive back catalogue. As part of the tour they play the Róisín Dubh on Saturday April 29 at 9pm.

"We in Therapy? are proud and excited to announce that we'll be taking our music on the road in an acoustic setting," says Cairns. "This will be a challenge for us and hopefully a chance for our fans to hear the melodies, guitars, and rhythms in unique settings. We'll be working on songs from across all our albums, and in intimate environments we'll be able to give insights into the stories and influences behind them. We'd love you to join us in helping make this a celebratory experience."

Therapy? have drawn upon the attendant feelings of alienation, frustration and dislocation for strength and inspiration across their 26 year career, crafting a dark, idiosyncratic worldview which has garnered the group a reputation as one of the most uncompromising, creative and individualistic bands of their generation. The band is best known for the albums Nurse (1992 ), Troublegum (1994 ), and Infernal Love (1995 ). However they have enjoyed a new lease of life since 2015's Disquiet, which featured on numerous Albums of the Year lists, and saw Metalhammer proclaim: “Therapy? (have ) released a batch of killer songs that sound like an all-new Greatest Hits collection.”

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
