Latin Mass to be celebrated in Claddagh on Christmas Day

On Christmas Day, at 2.30p.m. a traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, the Claddagh, Galway.

Since New Year’s Day 2012, the priests of the Institute of Christ the King have offered a weekly Sunday Mass in the Dominican Church at 2.30. The Institute of Christ the King, which was founded in 1990, has been growing steadily throughout the world, attracting many young vocations to the priesthood.

The priests of the Institute have had a presence in Limerick since 2006, where it has more recently purchased, and undertaken an extensive renovation of, the Sacred Heart Church. In recent years, the priests of the Institute have given generously of their time to travel to Galway to celebrate the traditional (or “Tridentine” ) Mass for the growing number of Catholics (particularly young Catholics ) who are requesting this beautiful and ancient form of the Mass.

Music is provided by a small choir which sings Gregorian chant, sacred choral music and traditional hymns - new members are always welcome to join. All are warmly invited to attend this Mass any Sunday, but a special invitation is extended for Christmas Day.
