Colleran’s auction success continues

It was standing room only last week at Colleran auctioneer's last auction of the year, where Christmas came early for the vendors, with all properties exceeding their guide considerably.

First to be sold was No 31 Emmet Avenue, Old Mervue. While bidding was slow to open with no one wanting to be first to bid, it was followed by tense and often rapid bidding from three parties who all wanted to secure this attractive home. Bidding concluded at €192,000 to spontaneous applause from the packed action room.

Next to sell was No 33 St Finbarr's Terrace, Bohermore. While in need of considerable attention the potential of this three bedroom terraced house was obvious to everyone and it was not long before Don Colleran dropped his gavel at €157,000, a figure far in excess of his client's expectation. It was then around the corner to No 87 Bohermore, a five bedroom terraced house opposite Crowe's Bar. This property had generated considerable interest prior to auction which was clearly reflected in the bidding. While bidding initially opened below the AMV of €215,000 it was not long before four bidders were declaring their interest for this unique property and it was eventually sold to a man standing at the back of the packed auction room for €258,000.

Don Colleran has developed a reputation as the go-to auctioneer when buying or selling a house in the Claddagh, and this reputation was underlined when he sold No 37 Fairhill Road, Claddagh at auction. While it appeared to many that there was little or no interest in this property, Colleran persisted and refused to withdraw the property as he reminded people of all the benefits of living in the most sought after part of Galway with every amenity on your doorstep, from the city centre to the Salthill Promenade. His persistence finally paid off when bidding did start and continued until the house sold for €271,000. In closing another successful auction Don Colleran appealed to anyone thinking of selling and wanting to maximise the value of their property to contact him as he is now registering property for his next auction.
