The Academic to play Róisín Dubh

Indie-rock sensation come to Galway as part of current nationwide tour

THE ACADEMIC, the Westmeath indie-rock sensation called “one of Ireland’s most exciting new bands” by The Independent, play the Róisín Dubh next week, as part of their December tour of Ireland.

The band have been making waves since releasing their debut EP, Loose Friends, in 2015, which included the smash hit and Choice Music Prize nominated 'Different'. Their most recent single ‘Mixtape 2003’, which came out in September, following on from a triumphant set at Electric Picnic, won support from The New York Times and BBC Radio 1.

The quartet are no strangers to critical acclaim. Clash Music praised their "biting indie rock"; Stereofox said they "stand out as a new pop rock reference"; while The Revue said: “Some bands have such talent that when you hear their music for the first time, you are instantly hooked...one of those bands to watch is The Academic”

The Academic play the Róisín Dubh on Saturday December 17 at 8pm. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
