Winning streak – Clarenbridge Nursing Home win care awards two years in a row

Clarenbridge Nursing home picked up two awards at the annual Nursing Home Ireland award ceremony held at Citywest Hotel in Dublin for excellence in governance and management and catering and nutrition.

Marty Whelan hosted the event in front of 500 delegates presenting Ms. Sarah McDonagh the Executive Chef with the Catering and Nutrition Award and Ms. Frances Neilan the Director of Nursing with the Director of Nursing/Person in charge award for excellence in Governance and Management.

Clarenbridge Nursing Home since joining the Windmill Nursing Group in 2013 is at the forefront in community rehabilitation for people with acquired brain and spinal injuries and long term care. Residents admitted to Clarenbridge for convalescence, rehabilitation or long term care benefit from the extensive programmes designed to meet their individual care needs.

The multidisciplinary team consists of a full time physiotherapist, occupational therapist and specialist nursing staff skilled in neurology, gerontology, psychiatry and respiratory care. Care is based on the biopsychological model which focuses on providing personalised care and the promotion of health and wellbeing. There is a wide range of social and recreational programmes developed using evidence based research to address the emerging complex psychological needs of the residents. Clarenbridge Nursing Home is unique in the West of Ireland and is advancing with innovative ways to enhance and improve resident’s lived experiences and quality of life.

Frances and Sarah were shortlisted among 27 finalists throughout Ireland representing 420 nursing homes. It was a significant achievement to take back two awards to Clarenbridge Nursing Home and is recognition of their commitment and dedication to excellence in the residential care setting.
