•St Paul’s Oughterard face Kiltimagh next Sunday in Ballinrobe at 1.30pm in the Connacht senior B final. The game is followed by the A final between the all-Mayo combination of St Geralds v St Colmans at 3pm. There will be extra time in both games if required.

• Interested in cycling? The West Coast Wheelers Cycling Club is holding two presentation evenings next week where club members will be talking about the various bike-related activities in which WCW participates, including leisure/charity events, road racing, and mountain biking. The meetings will be held in The Forge, Moycullen, on Monday March 2 and The Maldron Hotel (formerly the Quality Hotel ), Oranmore, on Tuesday March 3. Both meetings will run from 8 to 9pm. •St James’ GAA Club Juvenile section will hold its registration day on Saturday, starting at 11.30am at the Renmore GAA clubhouse, opposite Scoil Catriona National School. The club coaches all ages from u-10 and upwards, and covers the areas of Renmore, Mervue, Ballybane, Doughiska, Roscam, and Briarhill. All current and new members are welcome.

•Athenry’s Olympic 200 metres semi-finalist Paul Hession is the lone male athlete so far selected in the 14-strong team for the European Indoor Championships that take place from March 6 to 8 in Turin. Hession is joined by Gemma Hynes from the Galway City Harries Club. Hynes will be taking part in the women’s 4X400m relay team along with Marian Andrews, Claire Bergin, Christine McMahon, and Brona Furlong.

•Mattie Griffin, a Galway native, was placed fifth at the Indoor Championships in Zurich, Switzerland at the weekend. Griffin’s performance sees him holding onto his overall fifth in the world rankings of freestyle riders. He is the sole Irish representative on the international circuit.
