Last Thursday the Galway Advertiser and the PorterShed teamed up to host a screening of the new documentary Design Disruptors, which examines the role of design in disrupting some of the world’s biggest industries.
The movie, from design platform InVision, takes the viewer on a journey inside some of largest technology companies in the world, including Google, Facebook, MailChimp, Medium, Dropbox, Netflix, Airbnb, and Lyft, and explores the key role design plays in creating innovative products, and in transforming every aspect of our lives.
The film offers an inspirational look at how these companies are becoming more and more design led, and how some of the world’s most influential companies are being founded by designers. Some of the leading creatives in these organisations gave insights into the process and thinking that has made them successful. The film expertly explores how having customer-centric design as a core pillar has given them an edge over their competition.
The event was arranged by Advertiser production manager Paddy Breslin. Hosts the PorterShed organised popcorn for everyone, while the Connemara-based Independent Brewery treated everyone to its new wheat beer. The event was sponsored by the Galway Advertiser.
