Gaelchultúr announces Irish oral courses

Irish language consultancy and training company Gaelchultúr has announced that it is running intensive Irish oral preparatory courses for Leaving Cert students in 15 centres across Ireland this spring.

The company is responding to a growing demand for courses to help students prepare for the Irish oral exam, which is worth 25 per cent of the overall marks in the Leaving Cert. Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe recently announced that this percentage will be increased to 40 per cent from 2012.

Students attending Gaelchultúr’s intensive preparatory course will have an opportunity to undergo an individual mock oral exam. They will be given immediate feedback by the examiner and tips on how they can improve their performance, and therefore their marks, in the exam. Participants will also be given access to a free online support service; on the website, students will be able to listen to sample answers, do interactive exercises, and practise the reading passages at their own pace.

The number of places available on the course is limited and students are advised to book early. Students can book online at www.oralirish.ie or by calling 1890 252 900. This course is being held in the Clybaun Hotel, Knocknacarra.

Gaelchultúr also runs classes for adults throughout Ireland. It provides in-house training for many public sector bodies and publishes a range of educational books and websites.
