Celebrate SeaFest with Mary’s fish and chips

Mary Kilcommons, owner of Mary’s Fish, Ballybane, formerly Mary Carrick from the Claddagh, prides herself on sourcing produce from local providers. Mary’s Fish, in conjunction with Tribeton, would like to invite you to try some fish and chips during the Galway SeaFest this Saturday and Sunday.

Needless to say, the fish will be excellent, and will be accompanied by a selection of homemade condiments. Padraig Casserly, head chef at Tribeton, will prepare homemade tomato ketchup, homemade Edinburgh vinegar (the original malt vinegar that goes best with chips ), and some homemade Tartare sauce. Mary will also have a stand selling fresh fish for the two days of the festival, just look for the blue and yellow banners with the happy looking fish.

There is lots to do and see this weekend and SeaFest. There will be fish preparation demonstrations as well as top chefs creating some tasty fish dishes in the Big Top marquee. Michael O’Meara from Oscars will be on hand, and will no doubt be happy to sign copies of his Sea Gastronomy book, named Best Seafood Book in the World 2016. Other highlights include the RNLI, the Marine Institute and many more.

Mary’s Fish is all about finding the freshest fish every day and having it on show at her shop in Ballybane six days a week, so anyone who has not ventured to Ballybane can meet her at the festival and be sure of great fish for the weekend. Mary supplies all the fish to Tribeton Bar and Restaurant, which is located just around the corner from the docks in Merchants Road. It boasts a huge bar and restaurant with some 80 different gins, the biggest cocktail menu in the west, music every weekend, and a new weekend brunch menu. It is already taking bookings for Christmas and Race Week and is filling up quickly.

To celebrate SeaFest Tribeton has created a superb fish fest menu that will be available until the end of August with dishes such as sole meuniere, ray wings with Thai butter and clams, and mackerel stuffed with garlic, chilli, and lime kaffir leaves. Enjoy all the festival has to offer this weekend, and keep hunger at bay with a portion of Mary’s fish and chips.
