Gardai warn about dangers of keeping cash at home after spate of city burglaries

Gardai in Galway are investigating a series of burglaries in the city in the last week and have warned about the perils of storing unsecured cash and valuables in residential homes.

Between 9.30am and 1pm last Thursday, a house in Salerno, in the Rockbarton area of Salthill was broken into, with entry to the house being gained through a rear window. A large quantity of jewellery was stolen.Garda Denise O’Halloran of Salthill Garda Station is investigating the incident.A short time later, at 10.30am, a house in the Kingston area was broken into. Similarly the residence was entered through a window at the rear of the house.

The culprits then exited through front door. The residence was alarmed at the time, and the alarm was damaged.A large amount of cash was taken in the course of the burglary. Garda Michael Staunton of Salthill Garda Station is investigating the incident. Any information on these incidents can be given to Salthill Gardai on 091 514720.

They are also keen to find the culprits of a burglary which occurred at Lohans Bar, Upper Salthill, on Sunday night between 1am and 9am.They are appealing to members of the public who saw anyone acting suspiciously, in the vicinity of Lohans, or any suspicious persons or vehicles.

Galway Gardai are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred in the Sean Bhaile estate, Doughiska, just before 8am. Two males forced their way into a house and weapons were used. A black Audi A4 is connected to the incident. Any witnesses are asked to contact Galway Gardai on 091 538000.
