Public talk on creating interest in architecture

EXTENDING ARCHITECTURE, the free public talks and training for arts practitioners interested in exploring and sharing the cultural and artistic value of architecture with the public, is coming to Galway.

The talks are run by The Arts Council. The Galway public talk will be by Kate Goodwin on Friday April 1 from 7pm to 9pm in the Nuns Island Theatre. Goodwin is the head of architecture and Drue Heinz curator at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. The training on Saturday April 2, from 9.30am to 5.30pm, also in Nuns’ Island Theatre, will be led by architect and visual artist Blaithín Quinn. It will focus on how to facilitate public engagement to develop new attitudes on architecture.

Goodwin's talk is open to all but advance booking is advised through extending-architecture-kate-goodwin.eventbrite.ie The training session is open to architects, artists, arts officers, curators, venue programmers, directors, and community organisers.

Places for the full day training sessions are also free of charge but capacity is limited and will require a statement of interest. For this email Katherine Atkinson via [email protected].
