The Hen Night Epiphany - as Gaeilge

FIVE WOMEN on a hen night in the hills of Connemara - it should be a wild night of drink, craic, and naughty behaviour, instead the group discovers an unhappy bride-to-be, while friendships are sorely tested.

This is Cinneadh Ne Circe, the Irish language version of Jimmy Murphy's The Hen Night Epiphany, and starring Charlotte Bradley (An Brontannas ), Tara Breathnach, (A Nightingale Falling, The Tudors ), Fionnuala Ní Fhlatharta (Ros na Rún ), Bairbre Ní Chaoimh and Mimi O’Carroll (Eipic ), comes to An Taibhdhearc, from April 5 to 9. The play is translated by John Keane and directed by Lara Campbell.

The play is being staged in response to the Wakingthefeminists movement in theatre. "There is so little good work for women actors, and it’s about time we dealt with contemporary women’s stories on stage," said Anne McCabe, artistic director of An Taibhdhearc. “It was really timely and it’s a case of ‘carpe diem’- so we are seizing the moment, for modern Irish women in 2016.”
