Mary Kennedy hosts afternoon tea in The Clayton in aid of Enable Ireland

TV personality Mary Kennedy will host a special Mothers and Others Afternoon Tea on Sunday March 13 at the Clayton Hotel. The event is being organised to celebrate both Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day, with all proceeds supporting the work of the Enable Ireland Galway service.

The afternoon begins at 3pm, where guests can browse the lifestyle village with more than 40 stands showcasing a range of pop-up shops including; health, fitness, food, and wellbeing. There will also be a beauty team on-hand to treat you to make-up touch ups and mini manicures.

For the fashionistas, enjoy a seated style workshop in association with a selection of the city’s most popular boutiques. In advance of the event, four lucky ladies will be chosen for a full head to toe makeover and will unveil their new look on the day with each of the boutiques sharing styling tips and top fashion secrets. Hair and make-up artists will also tell their tricks of the trade, covering everything from subtle day time to a more glamorous evening look.

A highlight of the afternoon will be the on the couch interviews hosted by Mary Kennedy, speaking to a selection of Galway’s leading ladies from the world of retail, fitness, health and blogging. Everything from careers to marriage and family life will be discussed in a light-hearted manner but with an insightful approach.

Annmarie O’Connor, fashion writer, stylist, and author of the Happy Closet will discuss the link between wellbeing and being well-dressed with mindfulness tips on how to master your wardrobe wellness. Pianist Sean Rowland will provide the musical entertainment and the afternoon will also feature Galway sopranos, Bel Canto.

All of the proceeds from the event will go directly to the Enable Ireland Galway branch, which provides free services to children and adults with disabilities throughout the city and country.

Enable Ireland fundraising manager Sharon Meehan says the charity does great work in Galway; supporting more than 600 children with disabilities, and helping them to lead independent lives in their communities. "Fundraising is essential to keep the service running with no waiting lists and to ensure families get the best possible support that they need. We are urging people to come along and support our event, while having a really enjoyable afternoon."
