Have some Dvorák for lunch

ConTempo to play lunchtime concert in St Nicholas' Collegiate Church

'AMERICAN', ONE of Antonín Dvorák’s musical responses to his time in the New World, will be performed at a lunchtime concert with the ConTempo String Quartet next week.

‘American’, or to give it its technical title, the String Quartet in F major, Op 96, was written in 1893 during the composer’s time in the USA. Composed shortly after his New World Symphony, the piece draws on African-American and Native American music. ConTempo will perform it in St Nicholas' Collegiate Church on Tuesday March 1.

The concert runs from 1.10pm to 1.50pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
