Mystics top of the table clash

Basketball cup winners and league leaders, NUIG Mystics face Fr Matthews in a top-of-the-table clash in the Jes on Saturday (2pm ).

With just four games left in the league, and two of those against Fr Matthews, Mystics will see this fixture as a must-win in the run-in to the league finish.

The visiting Cork outfit has lost two of its 11 fixtures played, while Mystics have currently lost only one of their 13 games, ensuring the conclusion to this season's league will be tight.

Mystics maintained their pole position after a comfortable 80-47 over Longford Falcons in Longford Sports Centre on Saturday.

Mystics' starting five, Siobhan Kilkenny, Lauren Murray, Ailish O'Reilly, Marritta Gillchrease and Deirdre O'Shea, were never really threatened in this game, leading 17-12 at the end of the first quarter before extending to gap to 43-26 at half time.The third and fourth quarters were much of the same as Mystics ran their bench.
