Use your 1c and 2c coins to help a good cause

The Central Bank is beginning the process of rounding out 1c and 2c coins next Wednesday October 28, so if you wish to get rid of your coins and help a worthy cause, donate to Change for Charity.

This initiative has been in place since last October encouraging people in Galway all over the country to donate their unwanted 1c and 2c coins to help support a number of Irish charities.

There are €35 million of these coins in people’s homes and offices in bottles and jars, which will soon be of no use to anyone, so the Change For Charity campaign is encouraging people to get these coins to a collection point near them sooner rather than later.

The campaign has over 3,000 collection receptacles in schools, shops and banks. Every AIB and Bank of Ireland branch in Galway has a receptacle.

The proceeds of Change for are being divided between a number of Irish Charities and there is currently a waiting list of 43 charities who are all waiting for help.
