Verdi’s Il Trovatore at The Eye

IL TROVATORE, Verdi’s popular Spanish opera, will open New York's Metropolitan Opera House 2015/2016 season and it will also be screened live, via satellite, to The Eye Cinema, Wellpark, this Saturday.

In this production, Anna Netrebko takes on the role of Leonora, the heroine who sacrifices her life for the love of troubadour Manrico, sung by Yonghoon Lee. Dmitri Hvorostovsky is Count di Luna and Dolora Zajick sings Azucena. Marco Armiliato conducts Sir David McVicar’s Goya-inspired production.

The Met’s 2015/2016 season will incllde Wagner’s Tannhäuser, Berg’s Lulu, Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux, Strauss’s Elektra, Verdi’s Otello, and Puccini’s Turandot, Manon Lescaut, and Madam Butterfly.
