Colm and Caryl McDonagh, well known businesspeople in Galway, are bringing the Esquire Coffee franchise concept to Galway city. They have recently opened in a prestige building on Eyre Square, just a few doors down from the well known O’Connell's bar.

Esquires Coffee has a long franchise history in the competitive cafe sector, having been established in Vancouver, Canada, in 1993. It has since grown as a global brand with a presence on every continent and now forms part of Cook's Global Foods which is based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Esquires Coffee provides a place for people to meet, socialise, and unwind, with great service, great coffee, and great food guaranteed. "We believe that these vital ingredients, together with fantastic Fairtrade and organic coffee, will be the key to the success of the Esquires brand in Galway,” said Caryl McDonagh.

“Esquires Coffee is built on the principle of delivering a top level of service underpinned by quality. We invest in exceptional people, excellent service, quality, and innovation, and continually strive to surpass expectations and develop new products that delight the coffee house customer,” said Tony McVerry, who heads up the Esquires operation in Ireland.  “Our success depends on our franchise owners, so we make sure we’ve got the right people – and we do everything we can to make sure they have all the support they need.

"Commitment to quality and service is a prerequisite, but a business founded on customer service needs a warm and welcoming personality too, and in this respect we are very fortunate to have both Colm and Caryl who have many years of local business experience and are very well known around Galway," McVerry added.

"I have always had a passion for coffee and for years I have wanted to run my own Coffee House. Now I, along with my wife Caryl, have that opportunity with Esquires and we very much look forward to welcoming one and all to our lovely designed coffee house in Eyre Square,” said Colm McDonagh.

Visitors to Esquires can expect a warm, comfortable, and fun atmosphere. Serving top quality gourmet speciality coffees, as well as other hot and cold beverages including wine, freshly baked scones, muffins, and freshly made sandwiches, snacks, and patisseries, Esquires Coffee is the ideal location to take a break from shopping, meet friends, or just relax. Esquires also provides hot food all day with a tasty selection of hot dishes and home made soups on offer.

“Customers are more sophisticated than ever when it comes to coffee and snacks and you need to set a high standard to attract and retain customers. As such, both Colm and I have an unreserved commitment to only serving the finest of food and  Fairtrade organic coffee," Caryl McDonagh added. "Galway is a very cosmopolitan city and there is no room for complacency in this market.”
