U-21 hurlers face Limerick in All-Ireland semi-final

The Galway u-21 hurling panel, including senior stars from last Sunday's wonderful win over Tipperary, Jason Flynn, Cathal Mannion and Conor Whelan, will head to Semple Stadium this Saturday for the All-Ireland semi-final against Munster champions Limerick (6pm ).

That game will be preceded by the other All-Ireland semi-final between last year's beaten All-Ireland finalists Wexford, and Antrim (4pm ).

Galway have yet to play a competitive game at this grade this season, so it is difficult to predict how they will perform.  However the three senior forwards will be joined by senior panellists Paul Killeen and Dean Higgins, and also a few from the All-Ireland Intermediate winning squad, which should give them a strong spine at the very least.

The competition for places is  high and with the feel good factor of last weekend and the All-Ireland Intermediate success, there are hopes this team can set up another All-Ireland final place and join the minors, seniors and camogie teams in their quest for glory.

Galway will face a tough challenge on Saturday though, as Munster champions Limerick have been impressive in reaching this stage of the competition.

The Treaty men showed great resolve against both Tipperary in their opening game, having played most of the second half with 14 men, and in the provincial decider against Clare. Senior star Cian Lynch is their marquee forward, and they cannot be underestimated.

The bookies have Limerick at 6/5, with Galway at 5/6. The draw is 8/1.

Both games are live on TG4.
