Big turnout expected for popular Claregalway 10k event this weekend

Hundreds are expected to take to the roads around Claregalway this weekend for the 28th Claregalway 10K Road Race/Fun Run/Walk which takes place on Saturday (August 22 ) at 6pm.

Participants for the popular event which is organised by Clare River Harriers can enter online at RunIreland.com.

Entry fee is €20 and it should be noted that €5 from each entry fee goes to Galway Hospice All entrants will also receive a commemorative T-shirt. The race packs can be picked up at the Community Centre, Claregalway, and at the same venue, late entries will be taken up to 5.30pm.  The Claregalway Community Centre is located just outside Claregalway off the N18 Limerick/Dublin road.

The 10k race starts outside Claregalway National School and finishes outside Claregalway Community Centre. Participants are reminded that the 10K course is a flat route where many personal bests (PBs ) are recorded.

There are prizes for the first five individual men, the first five individual ladies and the first two men and ladies over 40, 50 and 60.

The Brendan Gavin Memorial Plaque will be awarded for the largest team entered.

Refreshments will be served and the prize giving will be held afterwards in the Claregalway Community Centre.
